Uncomfortable by Design: Find Success Outside Your Comfort Zone

Finding and choosing experiences that are outside your comfort zone builds character and confidence that make the difference when you are trying to stand out in a crowded marketplace - whether you are trying to promote a product, a new company or idea, or yourself. Tracy Kane will talk about her experience representing companies, particularly women-owned firms, from start-up through growth and eventually sale as well as her own personal journey to build a successful practice in an unconventional way.

Tracy Kane, a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School, is a shareholder at Dodson, Parker, Behm & Capparella, P.C. and a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 listed Mediator. She utilizes her experience in government, business and international trade to provide advice to start-ups and high growth companies and their owners, as well as tax-exempt entities.

Tracy’s wide ranging transactional practice includes guiding clients through company formation, operation, succession and estate planning, mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, intellectual property protection, and regulatory compliance. As a mediator, Tracy facilitates dispute resolution for businesses, their owners and employees. Prior to joining Dodson, Parker, Tracy served as law clerk to Judge Richard Dinkins on the Tennessee Court of Appeals.

Tracy has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at Belmont University Law School where she taught client counseling and negotiation. She is an active community volunteer serving in leadership positions on several nonprofit boards and active member of several local and national bar associations, including serving on the Editorial Board for the Nashville Bar Journal and as an Editor of the Tennessee Practice Series. Prior to law school, Tracy worked in government and business in Washington, D.C., Beijing, China and Tokyo, Japan. She and her husband, Jeremy Kane, have a 3 year old daughter.
